About Us

Who is behind the brand ?

Founder, Maude Bombardier

(pronounced as in "Beast Mode" or "Airplane Mode")

Hello, it's lovely meeting you.

The Laughing Hour was founded in September 2018 by Maude Bombardier and charmed the media from the beginning with CTV News, CBC Radio, City News Edmonton, and many more asking to attend the hour of laughter.

Maude based the concept of her business on the laughing technique called laughter yoga. Passionate of promoting happiness and a healthy lifestyle, Maude first heard about laughter yoga in 2011 in Maui, Hawaii through the means of videos. She started attending laughter clubs in Montreal shortly after.

Graduating with a degree in Psychology and a certificate in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Maude knew from the first time she practiced laughter yoga in Montreal that she would become an advocate for this practice. She received her Laughter Yoga Leader Training certification in April 2018.

Her passion for promoting wellbeing goes beyond The Laughing Hour. She has a French happiness radio show, Oui Allo Bonheur, that airs every Tuesday on Radio Cité in Edmonton where she talks about various scientific studies suggest how to flourish happiness in your own life.

A strong believer in giving back, Maude sits on the board of directors of a French sports federation in Alberta called the Fédération du sport francophone de l'Alberta, and volunteers at Pilgrim's Hospice during the Expressive Arts program helping children during their grief journey.

She does not pretend she's a happiness expert, but rather an eternal student that loves sharing and learning on the subject of laughter, wellbeing, and a balanced life.
